A canteen reimagined as a place to meet, host and connect
Giant needed more than a staff canteen. The existing space felt tired, underused and disconnected from the quality of the brand experience elsewhere in the building. The ambition was to create a warm, multifunctional environment that could support everyday staff use, informal meetings, guest hosting and internal events.
Giant needed more than a staff canteen. The existing space felt tired, underused and disconnected from the quality of the brand experience elsewhere in the building. The ambition was to create a warm, multifunctional environment that.
We transformed the space into a considered hospitality-led setting with a stronger sense of purpose. Natural materials, rich green tones, warm timber, planting, feature lighting and layered seating create a space that feels welcoming, useful and distinctly connected to the Giant brand.
The result is a canteen that no longer feels like a back-of-house necessity. It now works as a social hub, a place for conversation, product storytelling and guest experience, giving Giant a more flexible and memorable environment at the heart of its HQ.

Approach
We approached the canteen as a multi-use brand space, not simply somewhere to eat. The layout was planned to support different behaviours throughout the day, from quick breaks and casual lunches to focused conversations, hosting moments and informal presentations.
The design language balances warmth, practicality and brand relevance. Timber surfaces, deep green finishes and soft upholstery create a more comfortable, hospitality-inspired feel, while the bike display, curated graphics and planting bring character and context into the space.
Lighting was used to add definition and atmosphere, helping different zones feel intentional without overcomplicating the layout. From the coffee point and banquette seating to the lounge and event areas, every detail was designed to make the space work harder for staff, visitors and the wider business.

Project Value
The completed space gives Giant a much stronger internal and guest facing environment. What was once an uninspiring canteen now feels like a integrated part of the HQ experience, supporting culture, hospitality and brand storytelling in one place. It creates more reasons for people to use the space throughout the day, encouraging informal connection, better hosting and a more positive workplace atmosphere. The interior feels polished but practical, with the flexibility to support everyday use as well as occasional events.
Most importantly, the project shows how even functional workplace areas can become valuable brand assets when they are designed with care, purpose and commercial understanding.
