A reimagined workspace canteen
This project required a rethink of an underutilised space that the team had outgrown. The brief was clear: transform a clinical, underused canteen into a warm, flexible cycle-style cafe that the team want to spend time in and can feel proud to share with guests.
The space needed to support two distinct audiences, internal teams and external visitors, hosting everything from quiet breakouts and informal meetings to annual events and product launches, all without feeling overdesigned or forced.

The Approach
Our design approach was centred on creating a multifunctional space that supports the client’s varied needs. The layout is warm and open, with a mix of seating styles encouraging different ways of using the space. A private meeting pod supports more focused use, while the central island and bar can integrate appliances to maintain a clean, premium feel.
Material choices were deliberate throughout warm timber, plywood detailing, deep forest green and considered lighting create an atmosphere far closer to a hospitality space than a workplace canteen. Subtle cycling references, original artwork and a hero bike display reflect the Giant brand without feeling corporate or forced.

The Result
The finished space delivers far more than a refreshed canteen. It has become a genuine part of daily working life and actively used throughout the day for lunch breaks, informal meetings and team catch-ups. They have already hosted many high-profile events including Giant's annual dealer conference and the launch of the new Propel bike.
Feedback noted how naturally the space accommodates both internal teams and external guests and how much more welcoming and reflective of the brand it now feels.
